>> we did hear romney did a full debate dress rehearsal yesterday. and we're also told he's been practicing some zingers. and as you heard president obama saying don't necessarily expect any zingers. we learn he's working on keeping answers brief. but how important is it to have that moment, that line that gets replaying over and over the next day. >> i think it's more important to sort of attack with a knife on the economy and on foreign policy of what's happened the last three weeks which haven't been a good three weeks for the president. i think romney will try to unnerve the president by challenging him directly on this. saying you failed to lead these last three weeks and your vision for the economy is just wrong and try to get under his skin that way. i don't think obama is very flappable. but in terms of these are your policies, they don't work. we tried likable. now we need competent, he's probably going to try to do that. >> we all remember the zingers. i knew jack kennedy. we remember those things. but ultimately voters do they take away a

romney was a great debater, but he's not running for president of the debate club. he's running for president of the united states, which means he has to be truthful. he has to say things based on facts. as you saw, yes, he speaks well, but what did he say? >> he abandoned his big, bold idea of a $5 trillion tax cut. he says that he's not going to raise taxes. he says he's not going to raise taxes on the middle class, and the tax policy center and i think you were in a commercial quoting the tax policy center have said that's just not true. so, yes, he speaks well. just because he says it doesn't mean it's so. >> as i said, i was very not joining that commercial. we protested the fact of that commercial, and that actually came from a report where we criticized both candidates. the president made comments about social security and simpson-boles and a number of other things that didn't add up either. both sides made misstatements in the debate. doesn't the president need a different game plan going into the next debate? >> i don't accept that the postulation that both

so i think right now the race is tied with romney having some momentum from the debate. the rest of the story will be determined by the remaining debate. obama trying to throw money at negating the effect of the debate by calling romney a liar. which is interesting. after other excuses. weak moderators, demand like appearing on "the view" and raising a lot of money in hollywood. altitude. now romney is a liar and obama was so shocked by the lies he couldn't speak on his own. so now it's the widst of the staircase express in the commercial. >> bret: a.b.? >> i think i agree that romney has gotten back tremendous momentum that he needed. i didn't he would get it until he did something to help himself, not just to keep hacking away at president obama. when he did at the debate he sold himself. as a viable alternative or reasonable replacement for the president. someone with ideas. someone who understands your problems. he needs to keep that momentum going. most importantly, it energizes the supporters. when you look at polls the most important factor is that enthusiasm gap.
